Recovering from a nasty cold After fighting the germs floating around our home with all possible means, they did catch up with me after all... and I am not feeling the greatest. Good thing that Rich and Jeremie are better, although Jeremie is still too weak to go to school. To help you - most of you who enjoy a hot summer right now - imagine our winter atmosphere around here, look at this photo (taken by Jeremie) of the fire that keeps us warm these days! Oh, what a blessing! It even heats our hot water! Last week was busy, I was out just about every night. On Friday night during the graduation of the first internship of the House of Prayer, we received a call from the social service, asking if we could take in 3 children for the week-end, it was an emergency. It didn't take long to decide. Although we really don't like turning any children away, we had to say no. Our house was in a mess, Rich's birthday was the next day, we had to help Nathalie get ready for her school ball and we were invited for the evening - and not feeling well. We were relieved to hear later that they found another family for the children!

Here is a photo of Rich's birthday brunch. The menu? Bacon and eggs, danishes, cantelope and honeydew - that's what he wanted! It's a Betts family tradition that the birthday person gets to choose what's for breakfast (and dinner, too!) I can't make this any longer - got to go back to bed. Just want to share a photo we took before Nathalie's ball. The young man who went with her, Alistair, is Nathalie's best friend's twin brother. Emily, her friend, is trying to set them up. Good thing, Nathalie knows what she wants and doesn't get manipulated easily :) - - - She told us when we first came to NZ that she definitely doesn't want to marry a New Zealander. We'll see :) Anyway, there was a whole group of them that went from the church youth group and they really did have a "ball" - in a wholesome way!
